My DwellStudio Comforter Set Arrived Today

What a great deal and value! A true gonga! The set had king sized shams. It's irritating when all you can get is standard size shams for a king size comforter or duvet. The comforter is lightweight and perfect for Tucson. The comforter and the shams have a piped border, and the birds and brown leaves have a nice brown satin edging to add some texture and glam.

Target really hit a home run with the DwellStudio line!

Got my New Orla Kiely Purse!

I got the purse I blogged about back on February 20. It arrived today and I have to say, I really like it (despite what my best friend Thea says). I find it to be very cute and functional. It adds a nice pop of color to one's outfit. I am excited!

DwellStudio for Target Bedding Line Finally Arrives!

I need a new comforter and/or duvet and/or quilt set, and I was so excited to see that the Dwell Studio line for Target is finally in stock! I am partial to this design:

This one is called "Perch" and it is a comforter set. So Jake approved and I ordered it this morning. I got 10% off through my company's discount program and 3% back from luckymagrewards, plus free shipping. I'll let you all know how we like it!

Interesting Find and Sweet Deal at Old Navy

So tonight the family went to the mall to Red Robin for dinner to use my free birthday burger coupon. It's a totally sweet deal and I have to say the Banzai burger was very tasty.

After we ate we went over to Old Navy to exchange a dress my mom got Siena for a larger size. I noticed that Old Navy had at least 8 different scents displayed of candles, body product, and reed diffusers. People who know me are aware of my abiding love for reed fragrance diffusers. I picked up five different scents and used a $50 Gap reward card to pay for it. Total price after the coupon? $13.41. Awesome deal!

Newest Anthro Addition

This skirt just arrived today:
It's a very soft and very comfy matte jersey, which means, no wrinkles and easy care. I think it needs to be worn with a black shirt so the butterflies really stand out. Thoughts?

More Sock Monkey Love

I think this little gal would be a great addition to my collection:

My Best Friend Thinks this Purse is Ugly

But I like it anyway. Thea says it looks like something you could get at Wal-Mart (perish the thought!) for $9.99. I say it is retro and cute and sublime.

It's an Orla Kiely. What do you think?

Visiting My Favorite Store

This afternoon my mom and I went out and did some shopping while Jake took Siena to see his family. Our first stop was Kohl's, where we trolled the clearance aisles and I got a ton of stuff. I git a new nap mat for Siena. lots of socks for Jake, some sippy cups for Siena, a shirt for Jake, some Valentine's dish towels, and other random things. With my Kohl's charge I got an additional 20% off the extra 25% off clearance prices. I cashed in.

Then we went to La Encantada where I braved the VS and picked up my bra. Surprisingly, it was not so bad this time. After that we strolled around a bit and then I had to stop at Anthropologie. Here is what I got (note: the frame was on sale):

The skirt is a bit small so my mom says to use it as my weight loss inspiration. Here's hoping!

Cashing in on Aging

Tomorrow I turn 33. While I'm not one to hide my age, I will admit that marching closer to 40 has me in a bit of a funk. Luckily there are ways to alleviate this, shopping being one of them.

I sign up for all sorts of loyalty programs and find that birthday time is when it pays off. So far I have received:
  • $10 coupon for a purchase of $10 or more from Bath & Body Works
  • $15 coupon for a purchase of $15 or more from Victoria's Secret
  • $10 coupon for a purchase of $10 or more from White House Black Market
  • free burger from Red Robin
  • free dessert at a Fox restaurant (independent group of restaurants here in Tucson)
  • $15 off $15 at Banana Republic
  • $15 off $15 at Gap
My point with this list is to encourage people to get the discounts and rewards that are out there. It's always a nice treat top open up the mailbox and get something.

Now if I can just work up the guts to go to VS at La Encantada and use my coupon, all will be well. I tried to use it at the Tucson mall store but they did not have anything in stock in my bra of choice in my size. So off to snob land I go!

A Profitable Walk

Rather than go for a bike ride this morning we decided to walk our overfed Pumpkin dog. She was so excited! And the excitement must have rubbed off because Siena has become quite the can spotter, and gets really excited when she sees one. She declares "Can Mama!" and points to it. While we did pick up some cans today, the real excitement came with the money we found. I was all excited when I saw a quarter but got even more excited when Jake found a $5 bill lying nearby. If Siena understood the concept of money I imagine she would be thrilled as well since it went right into her piggy bank when we got home.

More Covetable Anthropologie Items

My fantasy is that I have an unlimited expense account to the website. I love it so.

Good News for Limited Shoppers

I was at the mall this afternoon and stopped by the Limited. I asked when they would start carrying size XL shirts again, as I have a large chest and sometimes the large will not work for me. Good news! Size XL is coming back. Also, size 14 is coming back for bottoms. Very exciting!

I Got This Skirt for $9.06

It's from Banana Republic and is $69.

Here is how I did it: I used a 15% off coupon, then used a $50 BR card rewards certificate, then paid with my Luxe card for free shipping. Oh, I also clicked through luckymagrewards.com and earned 5% back in cash to a cash card. Plus I get 5% back in rewards for using my BR card.

I love to get gongas like this.

C9 by Champion at Target: Stylish and Functional

So I go to the gym at least twice a week, walk the dog, and ride my Hello Kitty cruiser along the river walk on weekends with Jake and Siena (who rides in her little trailer behind Jake). I'm not one of those people who dresses up to exercise. I wash my face, slap on some deodorant, pull my hair back, and out I go. In fact, I find it puzzling to see women at the gym reeking of perfume and in full make-up. But I digress.

I was getting tired of wearing my shorts, just basic drawstring waist cotton dealios that are good for exercise and lounging. I was also getting tired of my longer, more form-fitting boot-cut pants. So I decided to hit up Target to see what they have to offer.

I was not disappointed:

In addition to two sets of the above running skorts (spandexy legs underneath), one pair all black like the picture and the other black with a grey waistband, I got a pair of looser capris for when it is cooler. I've gotta tell you, the skort rocks. It is cute, comfy, stylish, and yes, I even feel sassy wearing it on the elliptical. I wore it on our bike ride today and loved it. Plus, it's appropriate for wearing to run errands before or after working-out. I admit I was reticent at first, because hello, this is a skort! But I am glad I gave it a try.

Latest J.Crew Finds

J.Crew has really been upping the color and design lately, and along with that, the price. Still, I find these items appealing:

I'm torn, though, because the shoes are also available in this print:

I'd be curious to know which pair people think is cuter. The yellow ones are bright and happy and funky and make me smile. The pink are girly and not as attention-getting, more demure. Thoughts? Opinions?

Seatbelt Purse by Harveys

I have been searching for a new bag that is cute, functional, sturdy, and not black. So, I saw this bag over at Zappos and decided to give it a try:

It's pretty darn cool. The design is modern and different. It holds a lot of my gear with room to spare. And, I got 8% back with luckymagrewards.com.

What is it with Victoria's Secret Sales Associates?

This past weekend I received quite possibly the most obnoxious customer service I have ever received at VS, and let me tell you, I have had some bad trips there, with the exception of the Tucson mall store, where they are always nice. There is one particular store in Tucson where the associates are just outright snobs. It is the La Encantada location---it's like they think that just because they work at the chi-chi mall they are extra special. Almost all of my bad experiences at VS have happened at this location, yet it is the easiest one to get in and out of and closest to my house, but I still dread having to go there.

So I had to return some bras. Not a big deal. I went in with Jake and Siena trailing along behind me. Siena saw the huge pink stuffed dog at the door and immediately hugged it. When Jake tried to scoot her away from it and bring her over to me at the counter, she protested a bit. He soothed her but not before the associates, all four of whom were standing behind the desk, one filing her nails, all gave each other a look like "ugh, a spawn has entered the store."

Now, I don't think I am special because I chose to procreate, and I am a firm believer in exiting public places if my child throws a fit---and yes, I have done this. However, this was not one of those times. It is like the air chilled twenty degrees from the looks the associates gave each other and then my child, almost as if we all had some flesh-eating virus or something. Jake and Siena turned tail and left and when I got out of the store Jake commented on their attitude.

I just want to say that I have worked retail in my past, at the mall and under some pretty stressful circumstances. Yet, I would never try and make a customer feels small and like a child. I always treated people with respect, because that was part of my job. It's like the associates at VS felt that their job was to be as condescending as possible. As I wrapped up my return the associate kept smirking at me and the other three with her kept acting like I was a big inconvenience.

I am a shareholder in VS. I wonder if they treat all shareholders that way?

I Love My New Target Dress!

I picked up this dress from Target this past Friday:
It seriously rocks my world. First of all, it is matte jersey so there are no wrinkles and it is nice and soft and comfy. Then, there are the cute puff sleeves (sweet and girly) and the nice v-neckline (worn with a cami, I can never get these kinds of necklines on dresses to work without one), the empire waist, and the tie back for shaping. Plus, it has pleating along the bottom seam of the empire waist and pintuck detail on the back at the top half of the dress and along the bustline for a nice, textured look. Finally, there is the price: $24.99, a gonga for sure. I'm thinking this dress will remain a staple in my work wardrobe for a while.

Super Bowl Sunday is for Shopping: 2008 Edition

This year my friend Thea chose to join my mom and me on our annual Super Bowl Sunday shopping adventure. I had some returns to do at the mall and wanted to get out of the house, so off to Park Place we went.

First I went by Target to get my price adjustments on my Dwell Studio kids stuff. The mall was kind of eh. I got a candle at B&BW in Bartlett Pear along with some Fekkai samples and used a $10 coupon they sent me. I bought a burgundy dress at the Gap using a $15 birthday coupon:

We went to DSW where I bought three, yes three, pairs of shoes. The only pair I can find a picture for is these:

I used a $5 birthday coupon sent to me, which really did not make a big dent but every little bit helps, I guess.

DwellStudio for Target Baby/Kids Line: Love It!

A couple of days I wrote about how Target was partnering with DwellStudio to do a bedding a baby/toddler line. Well, the kid's line is available now and I just happened to be in Target not once, but twice today and perused the line. I found some stuff I really like. It has a cool, modern vibe. I got the pillows for both mine and Siena's beds, the night light for her, and the wall decals for her room and mine. I've been wanting some cool wall decals and these were a gonga compared to others I have seen. How exciting! Luckily, Jake does not mind if our room is slightly girly as long as it is modern. I went through a black phase in bedding (and clothing) when I was a goth teenager, so now I am making up for it in my adult life.
Target just rocks. I can hardly wait for the DwellStudio bedding line to come out!

Updated to add on February 3: It's now on sale 15% off! I'll be hitting Target today to get my price adjustments, that is for sure!
